Today is Maundy Thursday, the day that begins the sadness and reflection of Holy Week.
Maundy Thursday commemorates the “last supper” of Jesus and his Disciples. The night when the betrayal took place and Jesus eventual walk to the cross began.
I had never commemorated Maundy Thursday until I moved to Florida. The United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches taught me about this night and the recognition of the evening.
Services for Maundy Thursday are solemn and filled with self-reflection, coupled with the Good Friday Stations of the Cross walk, these are my favorite two Holy Week services.
Since moving back to Georgia, I haven’t found either service, I miss them.
Tonight I will reflect on what is to come and remember, Sunday is Coming!
