Tuesday 10 – IAMM3Z – Topic Spill

TuesdaySome folks in the blog world like to remain anonymous, it’s a prerogative and one of the beauties of blogging.  This week’s Tuesday 10 featured blogger is one such person, I love her writing and think her blog is inspired by a good place in her heart.

IAMM3Z’s blog Topic Spill is just what it says, a combination of multiple ideas and thoughts all spilling out on the keyboard for a fun read.  Anything from DIY, Food, Humor, Reviews and a Healthy Dose of Soapbox.  Check out this blog, for opinions and the thoughts of someone who is comfortable enough in their own skin to share the good, the bad and the inspired.

One of the things I appreciate about this blog is the struggle and challenges that the writer has grown through.  While we have diametrically opposed thoughts on some of the key issues of the day, I respect her well thought out reasoning for her beliefs.  For me, one of the great qualities of blogging is the ability to make the reader think, this writer does that often with compassion, gentility and measured thought.

IAMM3Z thanks for taking part in the Tuesday 10 and for your continued efforts on Topic Spill!

1)Excluding family members, who inspires you?

I’m inspired by the many women and men who are fighting for the rights of everyone; men, women, and children. I find strength and comfort in the number of people speaking out against injustices they see. It takes a great deal of strength to stand up against your opposition. I’m especially inspired by those who gain nothing from their conquest to help better our society.

2)What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure would have to be margaritas and not for the reasons many might assume. I’m not an alcoholic but stomach doesn’t enjoy the acidity it Margaritas. They are however one of my favorite alcoholic beverages. There’s nothing like heading to my favorite Mexican restaurant and enjoying some queso and a few margaritas.

3)If you were to write a book, who is one person you would want to list in the acknowledgements and what would you say?

If I were writing a book I  would acknowledge my grandmother. Knowing what to say would depend on whether or not I intended for her to read my acknowledgement. My grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s and she is easily upset. I decided long ago that I would withhold my personal thoughts from her that had a high potential to trigger an emotional response.

If she were to read it I would make sure to express my unconditional love for her. I would let her know that I appreciated effort to stand up against the injustices in our lives and that her efforts are one of the few that saved me from being lost in a sea of pain. She is the light that guides me through life and without her I would not be the person I am today.

4)What is your favorite sandwich?

The best sandwich ever is a peanut butter and honey sandwich. It’s best if you let the honey crystallize before eating it and serve it with a glass of milk. Even better honey milk!

5)What is the best professional advice you ever received?

Not to be emotional. Emotions have a place and time and more often than not it is not in the workplace. I entered my profession at a young age and my emotions weren’t near the level of maturity required to advance in my profession. While I’m passionate about my work and it’s impossible to separate my emotional responses from work; I am able to accurately express those emotions in the proper time and place. Being more logical and less emotional professionally has allowed me to achieve positions beyond my previous reach. It’s also easier to deal with a high stress work environment when you don’t take things personally.

6)As a child, what was your favorite bedtime story?

Not so much a story but a lullaby. My favorite lullaby was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. At night I found a great deal of comfort looking out my window to the stars and wondering what was out there for me. I wondered if there was anyone out there who could empathize with my situation and help me out of it. Like the story, An American Tail, I wondered if there was “someone thinking of me and loving me tonight”.

7)Who is the first Presidential candidate you ever voted for?

John Kerry

8)What is the one career achievement you are most proud of?

I would say that I’m most proud of the time I resolved an escalation for a customer. The level of service that I offered her and the level of satisfaction she expressed with me was one of my most rewarding professional achievements. It’s not everyday that someone thanks you for resolving an undesirable conflict especially when everything that could go wrong did go wrong. But I managed to both resolve her escalation and restore of her faith in our brand. I walked away from that situation with a growing amount of confidence in myself.

9)If you could spend the day with any fictional character, who would you choose and why?

I suppose I would spend the day with Alice traveling through Wonderland. What a trip! I would enjoy the break from reality.

10)What is the best meal you ever ate?

Goodness! Is there even such a thing as the best meal ever eaten? It’s so subjective that it frequently changes. I rather enjoy Olive Garden’s Chicken Gnocchi and O’Charley’s French Dip is amazing! I recently made a buffalo chicken wreath and it has to be pretty high up there on the list of greats. If I absolutely had to pick the best meal ever it would be meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn.
