Big Brother Season 15, Episode 7, #BB15, #HOH, #Eviction, #ComcastSUX

bb15It’s eviction night and from what I am seeing and hearing, it looks like we may have another blind-side.  If this one happens it will rock the house and the power alliance that was supposed to rule this season.

Before I begin a review of tonight’s program let me update on what happened last night.

I am sitting here enjoying a wonderful episode of BB when my tv screen goes blue.  An error message shows up on my screen that my DVR/Cable box was no longer programmed for viewing.  HUH?

I check my other televisions and same thing… ugh!

Unfortunately I was watching on DVR, so could not get the show (or any show) live as I was locked into DVR without ability to do anything.

By now it is a bit after 9 and I call Comcast.  My first call of the night and I am in que for over 20 minutes before my ever chipper customer “service” rep answers the line.

My friendly rep tells me he will send a signal through my tv and it will be fixed.  He advises me that this should take 45 minutes to complete and that if I touch anything it will run the program to 24 hours for repair.  Ok, I am skeptical, but what am I to do?  It is obvious my friend wants to get me off the phone and basically exits.

After 45 minutes of nothing, I call back.  This time another 20 minutes and another friendly young man on the line.  This young man tells me I need to unplug the DVR for 30 seconds and THEN he would send a signal through the lines and it would take a couple of minutes for my repair to begin.

We go through the process and nothing….  we do it again and nothing… third time’s the charm, NOT!  At this point I have been on the phone for another 30 minutes and still nothing.  My friend lets me know he is through with me and he will need to schedule an appointment for a technician to come out.

I advise my friend that unless the tech is coming tonight, he needs to get someone on the phone who can help me.  I am immediately put on hold and wait another 20 minutes before a lovely young lady with an accent from the southern United States comes on the line.

Super sweet young lady takes me through several procedures, still nothing.  She tells me I really need a tech and the earliest anyone can be here is Saturday.  It is almost midnight and I am furious!

My sweet young lady friend tells me, let’s schedule the appointment, but she also has another idea too.  That idea is for me to take my box in to the office and trade it out and reinstall, she thinks the problem is the box.

So, out of frustration, exhaustion and defeat I agree, hang up and the phone and go to bed.

This morning I am at the Comcast XFINITY office at 8AM, DVR and remote control in hand for a swap.

Joining five other middle-aged white guys all holding DVRs or cable boxes we give each other a knowing look of “yep you are a sap that was suckered into the joys of Comcast, just like I am.”

When it comes my time to state my case to one of the two customer “service” reps at the counter, behind the bullet proof glass, I am greeted by a friendly yet condescending representative who first ask my phone number.

After giving my number she says “well what address is this for.”  I give her my new address and she looks at me with disapproval telling me, no wonder you are having problems, when you move you have to turn in your equipment and get NEW equipment.

Wow, interesting, it would have been nice for SOMEONE, ANYONE from Comcast XFINITY to have told me this during one of the six phone calls with the company over the past 2 months.

I  apologize for my ignorance but mention to the rep that I have been using the old equipment for the last month with no problems at the new address.  With her most compassionate condescending tone she informs me “well you were just lucky I guess.”

At this point I seriously just want to get our of the hell that is Comcast and await my new equipment.  As a fleeting comment I say to the lady behind the bullet proof glass “what happens to all the programs I had on my old DVR and the ones on my record.”

“Those don’t transfer, nothing will be there.”

SERIOUSLY????  And Comcast wonders why people view them with the same disgust as Congress and used car salesmen.

At this point, I just have to go…. I leave, I simply can’t take it anymore and know if I don’t leave the top of my bald head will pop off.

This afternoon I get home, plug-in my equipment and so far so good, it is working, but I really wish I could watch last night’s edition of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on BRAVO, but alas it is lost forever.

And now, you know the rest of the story…..  let’s get to some BIG BROTHER!

Show opens with Julie Chen ROCKING a green sleeveless jumpsuit and BIG hair!

Setting Up the Backdoor

A recap of the show since the POV ceremony shows the chaos of Nicks nomination.  Jeremy makes it clear, Nick’s nomination doesn’t matter because Elissa is going home.

Nick also makes it clear he feels in no danger, he is not going home.

Candice begins working on the other girls that the girls need to stick together and not let the men win.

Elissa goes to Jessie stating her case why Nick should go, there is a crack and possibility that Jessie may vote to keep her.  Helen begins working on Jessie with the same argument.  Jessie commits to Helen that she is voting for Nick.

Howard goes to Nick to express his concerns over McCrae, he is afraid Amanda controls his vote.  Spencer comes in and expresses his concerns over Amanda controlling McCrae as well.

Spencer goes to McCrae and tells him he needs to not let Amanda control him, Howard comes in and McCrae lets them know they need to trust him.

Amanda presses McCrae to keep Elissa.  In the confessional, McCrae admits he doesn’t know which way to turn, this week he knows he will either lose the Moving Company or Amanda with his vote.

Hello House guests

Julie talks to Jeremy, he tells her he came to compete.

Julie confronts the showmances and the showmance wannabes.

Julie reminds the cast they are watched 24/7 and ask at what point do they forget they are on camera.  Amanda admits she constantly forgets, Aaryn says she doesn’t forget and that “America knows a lot about me now.”  Julie lets her know “yes we certainly do.”

Julie says the insensitive comments made inside the house by some of the house guests have stirred controversy outside the house and made national headlines.

Several of the house guests begin to discuss Aaryn’s racism.

Howard says it hurts.

Amanda goes to Aaryn and lets her know the house is accusing her of being racist.  Aaryn rolls her eyes and lets Amanda know how OBNOXIOUS those feelings are.

Aaryn accuses them of being immature and lets her know she doesn’t care.

Amanda sees Aaryn’s character for who she is.

Words to Live By

SO Good!

BB#15, Episode or better known as Comcast/ XFINITY is the Anti-Christ!

From my Facebook today….. re: XFINITY and Comcast…. without a doubt the world’s WORST company for customer service!

8:00 AM – after being on phone with Comcast til after midnight, now waiting for new box at the payment center….. ugh Comcast.   Poor Amy Zimm and Susy Vieira Parsonsfeeling annoyed.

10:30 AM –

So the ever so pleasant Comcast lady, smiled and she looked down her nose at me and informed me that when I moved I should have turned my old equipment in and gotten new equipment.
I assume I was just supposed to know that as no one has mentioned that over the last 2 months.
I got new boxes and as an aside I just asked “so will all the things that are on my old DVR transfer to my new DVR”……. oh no, pleasant lady looking down her nose at me replies…. all of that will be lost.
When I asked how have I been using this equipment from my old residence at the new residence of the last month when you say it wasn’t supposed to work?  Her response was, “you were just lucky I guess.”
Seriously ‪#‎ComcastSUX‬ !
and for those of you saying go with Uverse, I have heard just as many horror stories about them, plus the condo has to all have the same provider, we are under a blanket Comcast account, but thanks for the recommendations. — feeling irritated.

What’s Cooking… Grilled Lemon Chicken & Sweet Potato Wedges with Chipotle Mayo

Sunday dinner is my favorite meal of the week.  It is when I have time to actually cook and not just throw something together.

As part of my 50×50 I am trying to make better food choices and Sunday night dinner is one of the opportunities I have to do just that.

Saturday morning I pulled out my trusty Weight Watchers cookbook in search of something to cook for Sunday dinner.  Saturday is grocery shopping day, so being organized is an important way for me to make Sunday night a success.

Chicken or turkey is my primary meat choices and I decided on chicken.

After scouring the pages I came upon a recipe for Grilled Lemon Chicken…. jackpot!

Now for the vegetable.  I am REALLY picky when it comes to vegetables, it isn’t that I don’t like them… I just don’t like a wide variety of them.  I decided to be adventurous and go for a sweet potato dish.  I’m not a fan of sweet potatoes, but I can eat them…. just not my first choice.

However, as I have stated I am trying to make better food choices and the sweet potato dish seemed like a good idea…. PLUS, it had an interesting dipping sauce that went along with it.

With this my menu was set, along with the chicken I would have Sweet Potato Wedges with Chipotle Mayonnaise.

I marinated the chicken for 24 hours, it was tender and A-MA-ZING!  The sweet potatoes, they were ok, still not my favorite but I cleaned my plate and the chipotle mayo…. YUM!  I made enough of it to use for other dishes.

I served the dish with a side of black-eyed peas because…. well, I eat black-eyed peas with almost everything!

I highly recommend these dishes, they were great for a Sunday dinner and could easily be made most any night with a littler pre-planning and prep!

Grilled Lemon Chicken

(recipe says use 4 pieces of chicken, I used 2 and didn’t change any of the other ingredients and it was perfect.)

1 garlic clove pressed

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons grated lemon zest

3 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

4 (I used 2) boneless chicken breast

Combine garlic, salt, lemon zest, extra virgin olive oil, dried oregano and black pepper.

Place chicken in a large zip-lock freezer bag and pour marinade over.

Place in refrigerator until ready to cook.  Minimum of 30 minutes.  (I left mine in for 24 hours)

Cook on grill pan, George Foreman or grill

Sweet Potato Wedges with Chipotle Mayonnaise

4 sweet potatoes scrubbed (I only used one)

1/4 cup fat-free mayonnaise

1/4 cup chipotle salsa

Pre-heat oven to 425, spray baking sheet with non-stick spray

Slice potatoes lengthwise in 1/2 and cut each 1/2 into 4 wedges, place wedges cut-side down on baking sheet.

Roast 15 minutes and turn over, roast a total of 25 minutes.

While potatoes are cooking, combine mayonnaise and salsa and blend.
