Life’s Playlist… Rebel Yell by Billy Idol

My favorite Sunfest Concert ever… Billy Idol, not because he was so great, but because my friends and I all had such a great time reliving our youth!

Plus for an old man, Billy Idol can still kick ass!

Creating a Scene…..

I am incredibly flattered to have been featured in yesterday’s Palm Beach Post “Scene Maker” Column.

While some people will say I often make a scene, not in a good way, I am proud to have been singled out in this instance!

The scene maker: Kendall Rumsey

Who he is: The vice mayor of Lake Park and marketing director at Downtown at the Gardens enjoys going to the beach, hosting dinner parties and restoring his 1925 historic home. “I joke with my friends that I spend my weekends in Lowe’s, Target, Kohl’s and Costco,” he says. “Thankfully, all four are within 2 miles of my house.”

A few of his favorites:

Favorite beach

MacArthur Beach State Park. “When I go there I feel like I am going on an adventure, the long walk over the bridge, leading to a short walk through the wildlife and then BAM – an amazing view of the ocean. When I go to MacArthur, I am able to totally clear my mind and let the roar of the ocean and the natural surroundings take over. It is so great that we still have these untouched gems in the area!”

John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, 10900 SR A1A, North Palm Beach, (561) 624-6950

Favorite waterside dining

“I go to the Tiki at Riviera Beach Marina whenever I get a chance. It’s casual, it’s fun and the people-watching there is awesome!”

Tiki Waterfront Sea Grill, 200 E. 13th St., Riviera Beach, (561) 845-5532

Favorite grocery store

Whole Foods Market in Palm Beach Gardens. “I love the selections, and I respect their commitment to the community. Once you learn more about their mission of sustainability and working within the local community it really is a great business model. I go to Joseph’s Classic Market on Northlake Boulevard for meats. I think they have the best selection and cuts around.”

Whole Foods Market, 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Ave., Palm Beach Gardens, (561) 691-8550

Joseph’s Classic Market, 4409 Northlake Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, (561) 799-0322

Favorite breakfast spot

“The Pelican Café has the best breakfast anywhere. The doughnuts are worth the trip alone, but the shrimp omelet or banana and pecan waffles are over the top!”

The Pelican Cafe, 612 U.S. 1, Lake Park, (561) 842-7272

Favorite place to take out-of-town guests

“I don’t think anyone creates the ‘Florida experience’ better than Guanabanas. The waterside tables, sand-between-your- toes, casual atmosphere is my idea of what the Florida lifestyle is all about.”

Guanabanas, 960 N. A1A, Jupiter, (561) 747-8878
