Day Six ~ Life is a Temporary Assignment
Today’s lesson is a God thing.
I lost a friend last night, a young father in great shape with a young toddler son and young wife died. His death was totally unexpected, a real shock to the system.
Since learning about Mike’s death this morning, I have naturally been upset. But in addition to being upset, I have been questioning how God could do something like this.
Why would God strike down a young father , in the prime of his life when his young son will need him? Knowing it is part of God’s plan and there is a reason doesn’t always make it any easier to understand.
Tonight, Warren’s words have been provided at the perfect time for me to hear. Beginning with two scriptures from Psalm.
I am here on earth for just a liitle while. Psalm 119:19 (TLV)
What is important to know is that while our life here on earth is fleeting, it is only a pre-cursor to our EVERLASTING life. Today my friend made his journey into everlasting life where he will live with God throughout eternity.
It still isn’t fair that a young wife will have to bury her husband or a young child will grow up without his father. Yet, it is part of a bigger picture, it is our responsibility to make sure this child knows his father and that his wife is comforted.
God will provide a way for this family, we will mourn the loss and Mike will walk with God through eternity.
A God Thing…..
DAY SIX: THINKING ABOUT MY PURPOSE
Point to Ponder: The world is not my home.
Verse to Remember: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)
Question to Ponder: How should the fact that life on earth is just a temporary assignment change the way I am living right now?
