One of the many things I love about the holidays is the wonderful food.
The decadence and tradition of holiday food makes it all the more special.
One of my favorite southern traditions is Pecan Pie.
Being born and spending many of my most memorable Thanksgiving celebrations in pecan country allowed the pecan harvest and holidays to coincide in delicious flavor!
For some reason pecan pie has a stigma as being a hard pie to make…. here is a secret, nothing could be further than the truth! Pecan Pie is a simple classic that anyone can make!
Pecan Pie Recipe:
1 cup white Karo syrup
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
Mix butter, sugar, salt and Karo. Add well beaten eggs, nuts and vanilla. Pour into a 9″ unbaked pie shell (don’t try to make one from scratch, frozen ones work just as well.) Bake 45 – 60 minutes at 325. (Do not pre-heat oven.)
